When I feel my heart freeze, I look to you. Rhythm, meter, your beat, help me to breathe. Lies come to choke me till my face is blue. Your songs combat the noise while demons seethe. Would I harden under the sun’s bright rays, Your tune casts shade. I’m held safe in your cool. Would I burn this garden into a blaze, Sing my blowtorch into a garden tool. I’ve run to look for gods on ev’ry hill. Their eyes can’t see, their ears can’t hear, like me. Your melodies wean me till I am still, Molding me to see that bloody, dry tree. There He cried Psalms, in the dark all alone. Here tears mingle—mine, His—a harvest sown.
Hey, did you know I wrote a book? (Well, a few technically!)
My latest book is my first book for grown-ups. It’s called Love Has a Story (Moody Publishers, 2024), and I think you should read the first two chapters to see if you want to get it for yourself or a friend (here’s chapter one and here’s chapter two). :)
Be on the lookout for news about my first fiction book, a novel-in-verse set to release in 2027 with InterVarsity Press. Can’t wait to tell you all about it!
